Typhoon Champi Becomes Strongest Storm of 2026

Champi has strengthened to Category 5, with winds of 296 km/h, Champi being the most intense storm of the year. China and Taiwan are in the path of the approaching typhoon. Heavy rain and rough seas are expected due to the typhoon. While the typhoon is no longer directly over land, it continues to threaten Guam and southwestern Japan.
